Cooking with Honey

Substitute honey for up to 1/2 of the sugar in most recipes. With experimentation, honey can be substituted for all of the sugar in some recipes.

Reduce the amount of liquid in the recipe by 1/4 cup for each cup of honey used in baked goods.

Reduce oven temperature by 25 degrees F. to prevent over-browning of baked goods.

A 12-oz. jar of honey or honey bear is equal to a standard measuring cup.

For easy removal, spray measuring cup with non-stick cooking spray before adding honey.

Honey has a higher sweetening power than sugar.

Store honey at room temperature.

If honey crystallizes, remove lid and place jar in warm tap water until crystals dissolve.
